Our Story

The Girls Leaders Forum (GLF) Rwanda was founded by Rosette Nkundimfura in 2012, when she was the Gender Minister in the National University of Rwanda Student Union (NURSU), with a strong conviction that young women in universities and higher learning institutions deserve the skills, confidence, and opportunities to shape their own futures. The Forum was born out of a recognition of the pressing challenges faced by female students, including limited leadership opportunities, high rates of unwanted pregnancies, and economic dependence that often hinder their academic success and personal growth.

Since its inception, GLF Rwanda has provided a safe space for young women to learn, share experiences, and develop leadership capacities that empower them to make informed decisions, advocate for their rights, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Guided by the vision of building a generation of confident, resilient, and empowered women leaders, GLF continues to support university and high school girls in overcoming barriers and becoming catalysts for positive change in Rwanda and beyond. Today, GLF operates in various universities and higher learning institutions nationwide. We are also impacting both girls and boys in high schools.
